FAQs
What is the enrollment process?
If you are interested in one of our programs, the first step is to reach out to Rob Keys, our admissions director, to schedule a visit and submit an application if you wish. Prospective applicants are invited to visit in the Spring, if there are openings, and enrollment contracts are sent to accepted children.
Is there a waitlist?
No. As a school, our process is to apply and enroll, rather than waiting for a number to come up. Each family has equal access as part of a pool of applications.
Do you offer before-school care?
We do! Check out our morning care options.
Do you offer after-school care?
We do! At Cornerstone, it is called “Children’s House”, and there are options for all ages except for the Toddler Program.
Does Cornerstone have athletics?
Yes! We have a cross-country team in the fall, a ski club in the winter, and a track & field team in the spring. Check out some of Cornerstone’s Magic for more details about each.
Any other after-school programs?
Absolutely. We call them “enrichments”, six-week blocks of experiences that change by season and year to year. Baking, volleyball, Spanish, book clubs, chess, dance, and songwriting are only a handful of the activities offered over the years.
How well do children transition from Cornerstone to traditional high schools?
If you spend most of your childhood at Cornerstone, in many cases ten or more years, you tend to stay in touch, and after 40 years, we have a good handle on our graduates. They tell us that they are prepared both academically, but also socially and emotionally. Having spent so many years of their childhood at a school that emphasized those skills in concert with academics, Cornerstone graduates are not only well-prepared but also well-grounded in who they are as young adults. And while one of the benefits of a Montessori education is achievement, parents who seek us out are likely aligned philosophically, and this also correlates with success.
